According to the EU Regulation<\/span>, Neohesperidin DC<\/span> is approved as an <\/span>aromatic ingredient,<\/b> sweetener and flavor enhancer<\/b>,<\/span> with the code E-959, CAS No 20702-77-6 and FL No 16.061.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, it is also approved and regulated in countries such as the United States and Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n

This raw material is obtained from the <\/span>bitter orange<\/span> farms owned by Bordas\u2019, which allows the company to have an absolute <\/span>control of the quality and traceability of each one<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neohesperidin DC Bordas is recognised as a multitask, economic and stable solution to face different challenges in many sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n

The main objectives of the project are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. To determine if the ingestion of the sweetener Neohesperidin DC Bordas <\/span>modifies markers of obesity and\/or produces alterations in glucose metabolism <\/b>and in the expression of taste receptors.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. To determine whether the sweetener <\/span>Neohesperidin DC Bordas produces any benefit on glucose metabolism.<\/b><\/li>\n
  3.             • The function of the intestinal barrier:<\/span><\/span>\u00a0The expression of intestinal barrier function markers, Claudin 3 and Occludin, was quantified in the small intestine. Cldn3 and Occludin are proteins with a structural function that promote intestinal barrier function.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • The markers of obesity<\/span><\/span>: levels of lipid metabolism markers such as triglycerides and plasma cholesterol were quantified.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • The metabolism of glucose<\/span>:<\/span> in recent years, it has been proposed that <\/span>an inflammatory intestinal response precedes and accelerates the development of metabolic problems associated with obesity<\/b>, which can lead to chronic pathologies such as <\/span>type 2 diabetes<\/b>. <\/span>
              \n<\/span>The expression of cytokines related to the inflammatory response was quantified as the Tumour Necrosis Factor alpha (TNF-\u03b1) and Interleukin (IL)-1, small proteins produced mainly by lymphocytes that regulate the mechanism of inflammation.<\/span><\/li>\n
            • The expression of taste receptors<\/span>: The expression of the sweet-tasting intestinal receptor T1r3 (glucose receptor) and the short-chain fatty acid receptors GPR41 and GPR43, both belonging to the nutrient signaling pathway, have been analyzed.

              According to data from the latest edition of the Diabetes Atlas published by the International Diabetes Federation, more than 7 million people died as a result of diabetes in last 2021.<\/b><\/p>\n

              Because of the magnitude of diabetes incidence, the World Health Organization (WHO) has developed a new Global Diabetes Pact, launched in April 2021, which highlights the need to define and agree global targets aimed at reducing mortality from this disease, improving access to new medicines, and preventing risks in people still undiagnosed.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1664188454604{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Insulin is the hormone responsible for maintaining basal glucose levels and, when a state of insulin resistance is developed, higher insulin levels are needed to reach the basal glycemic state.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

              A high level of insulin in the blood causes low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). Hypoglycemia can be mild, leading to symptoms such as anxiety and hunger; or it may be severe with seizures, coma, and even death.<\/span><\/p>\n

              The intake of certain sweeteners has been associated with undesirable changes in the composition of the gut microbiota which, in turn, contributed to worsening the metabolic response to the diet. <\/b>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1664188534597{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]MATERIAL Y METHODS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

              The composition of the intestinal microbiota has been analyzed with two different methods and types of samples described below:<\/span><\/p>\n

              • IN VIVO STUDY<\/b>\n
                  \n
                1. Faecal samples were collected from <\/span>six normal weight subjects<\/b> (BMI<24.9) and <\/span>six overweight or obese subjects<\/b> (BMI>25).<\/span><\/li>\n
                2. The donors were aged between <\/span>24-44<\/b> years old. Weight and height data as well as BMI were recorded prior to the test.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
                3. IN VITRO STUDY<\/b>\n

                  1. Fermentation of the digested sweetener in vitro (0.3 ml) was carried out by adding it to a volume of faeces suspension (2.7 ml) and incubating it for 24 h in anaerobiosis (AnaeroGemTM, Oxoid). <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1663933715208{padding-left: 55px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1664188545312{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]\n
