The search for premium flavours is growing.
Lockdown and mobility restrictions because of the pandemic have motivated the consumer to look for new experiences, usually through innovative products. For example, experimenting with new flavours with exotic and tropical notes could transport us to remote places and allow us to discover other cultures.
On the other hand, the democratisation of luxury products is trendy. The middle-class consumer declares that they would pay more for products that have added value to conventional ones, becoming a great interest segment for Premium products.
Bordas has expanded its catalogue of Premium flavours with the creation of two incredible and innovative flavours, in order to answer these trends and market demands.

CARIBBEAN BEACH
One of our latest Premium developments is Caribbean Beach.
This tropical flavour combines sweet hints of coconut and a sour pineapple. The sourness of pineapple combines perfectly with the creamy notes of coconut, evoking a trip to sunny beaches with a deep turquoise sea, full of Caribbean palms.

VELVET STRAWBERRY
Sweet strawberry is one of the most versatile and successful flavours found on the shelves of every supermarket.
In Bordas, we have sophisticated the strawberry note adding hints of velvety scarlet rose flower that, enhancing its sweet but also fragile side, obtain an extra soft and enveloping sensation in mouth.
Clean label trend has also gained importance in recent months. The Clean label trend not only affects the final products, but includes every ingredient that composes it, including flavours and sweeteners.
Moreover, it doesn’t manifest exclusively naturalness, sustainability, and traceability of additives throughout the entire chain, it also means the non-incorporation of certain ingredients that could be potentially harmful to the health of consumers.
Both developments could be developed with high-quality and 100% natural ingredients, and which come from sustainable and ethical production.
FUNCTIONAL CLAIMS
During recent years, there is an emerging global trend in the acquisition and consumption of products that, in addition to its main characteristics, include functional ingredients which produce some health benefit, without compromising the flavour experience.
Thanks to our extended expertise and the investments in R+D+i, Bordas offers an extended catalog of unique solutions that perfectly satisfy the growing demand of products from natural origin which boost the functional claim of the final product positioning them in the mind of the consumer.
BIOFLAVONOIDES
Naringin is a biologically active polyphenolic compound of natural origin, which, in addition to the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity, offers antimicrobial, cardioprotective, lipid-lowering, and antidiabetic activities.
It is mainly incorporated as a flavouring and/or bitter agent, and even as a substitute for quinine, in many carbonated beverages, sweets, sauces, syrup, and in the preparation of bakery and confectionery products.
In addition, naringin is an excellent candidate for the formulation of dietary products, thanks to its lipid-lowering and anti-diabetic properties.
Neohesperidine Dihydrochalcone is a powerful non-caloric and intensive sweetener mainly obtained sustainably from the bitter orange of Seville (Citrus Aurantium), through our own extraction and purification processes.
It presents an excellent performance even at low concentrations thanks to its sweetening power, which is 1800 times higher than sucrose.
On the other hand, Neohesperidine DC Bordas does not provide calories and has a zero glycemic index. Thanks to all these properties, it is commonly incorporated in formulas with the aim of elimination or reduction of other conventional sweeteners, helping to decrease the risk of suffering diseases related to sugar consumption, without altering organoleptic and rheological properties of the final product.
In conclusion, Neohesperidine DC Bordas is a multi task economic and stable solution which is incorporated in food and beverage industries, as well as in these products aimed to reduce obesity and overweight, supporting the claims of “light”, “zero added sugar” or “low calorie.”
In addition, it is incorporated as a flavour enhancer in the preparation of sauces and soups, and as a masking agent in pharmaceutical products.
